Su tortura y posterior asesinato se debe al secuestro por parte de las FARC del ganadero Jos\u00e9 Eduardo Mattos. Esta p\u00e9rdida motiva a Marta a concebir el documental &#8220;el valor de la palabra&#8221; que, dadas m\u00faltiples circunstancias, solo inicia su edici\u00f3n hasta el 2022. En el a\u00f1o 1991 la cineasta viaja a Nabusimake, capital del pueblo arhuaco, a entregar a la comunidad varias de las memorias de los l\u00edderes que ella hab\u00eda consignado en algunas transcripciones de entrevistas y otros materiales como fotograf\u00edas. El encuentro que registra este archivo tiene una naturaleza muy particular que nos revela el intercambio entre ind\u00edgenas y antrop\u00f3loga en torno al valor de la palabra de sus l\u00edderes asesinados, cuyo legado constituye el eslab\u00f3n de una lucha organizacional por la preservaci\u00f3n de la cultura.
